Sr. Elizabeth Hebert, S.L.W (Sisters of the Living Word) affectionately know to us as Sr. E. will be leaving O.L.P.H. School after 26 years of service,
She came to O.L.P.H. In Belle Chasse as our principal, in the summer of 1990. At that time our school was on the verge of collapse. We suffered from poor leadership, poor academic strength, poor image which all lead to low enrollment. In the beginning of June, 1990, this beautiful young nun began working 12 to 14 hours a day to give us back our precious school. The 1990/91 school began with much promise and has continued until now. She has continued to work at least 12 hours a day for our school.
Sr. E. Has been known to direct traffic on the highway when the police officers could not show up; run Santa from the helicopter to the school; help put children in cars every afternoon; play her guitar and lead singing every week at school mass; clean up in the cafeteria after functions; work with every parish committee; basically wherever there is a need she will help because nothing is beneath her.
She is the most humble person, never wanting any accolades thrown her way. And most importantly, she has kept the presence of Jesus at the heart of our school. We thank her for her devoted service for the past 26 years. Sr. E. you will be missed.
