Congratulations to Monica Acain and Troy Bourgeois who were confirmed on Pentecost Sunday at St. Louis Cathedral. Both Monica and Troy have special connections to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish. Monica is the granddaughter of Lillian Kent, who was an active parishioner and a first grade teacher in our Parish School of Religion until her death in 2015. Troy is the grandson of Deacon Bob Beaumont who was a deacon in our parish for several years. These young adults have decided that this is the time for them to be confirmed. I feel fortunate to be a part of this wonderful time in their lives.
Monica has written that she wants to be confirmed to make her grandma proud. She knows that Lil was very faith-filled and wanted nothing more than for all of her grandchildren to share her love of the Catholic Church. Monica was not confirmed with her peers. Now that she is older, she is ready to make her grandmother proud. She knows Lil will be smiling on her at the Confirmation on Sunday.
Monica was brought up in a Catholic family. She was baptized and made her First Communion. Now to her next chapter. She has dreamed of being a Godparent and of being married in an old Catholic Church. She has come closer to Jesus and closer to her dreams.
Monica chose St. Monica as her name for Confirmation because of all the struggles Monica had to go through in her life to become a Christian. Monica prayed for years for her son, Augustine. They both became canonized Saints.
Troy shared with me that he definitely knows that Deacon Bob and Helen will be happy about his decision. They will also be happy when Troy and his wife, Misty, are married in the Church.
Again congratulations! Go forth and evangelize others who may need a little push in the right direction.
