I am humbled and honored to introduce myself to you. It is with great excitement that I have accepted the position of principal of your school, and I would like to begin by thanking Fr. Kyle Dave, the search committee, and Dr. Raenell Houston for putting their trust in me.
I hope that you are enjoying a relaxing and restful summer, and looking forward to an exciting new school year in August.
The 2021-2022 will be my 18th year in education. During my previous 17 years, I have worn many hats, including teacher, coach, club moderator, dean, and assistant principal, among others. I come to you from Pope John Paul II High School, where I am also an alumna.
I live, with my husband Darren Kling and our son, Dillon, in Slidell. The drive from my door to school is 46 miles, or about an hour. I plan to put that hour to good use, listening to audio books and podcasts that will help me in this new endeavor.
I firmly believe that the micro-school is the future of education and that the concepts that drive it are visionary. Unlike traditional classrooms, the micro-school is learner centered. Students set goals, work to accomplish them, and share their progress with their peers. Community input is central to the success of the school.
I can’t wait to meet the students that make up Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. Please know that they, and their education, will be at the center of all decisions we will be making.
As John Paul II told us, “…from Mary we learn to trust…” I again thank you for putting your trust in me.
In closing, please know that my door is always open to you. I look forward to getting to know you and I welcome your input. Let us always keep our students as the primary focus of our work.
