The mission of OLPH’s Religious Education program is to bring the “Good News” of God’s love to all children and their families and to call them to commit their lives to Christ. Religious Education is available for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Students from 9th grade through 12th are under the instruction of the High School of Religion.
We request parents to be parishioners of OLPH when registering students for Religious Education. Census forms can be obtained from the Parish Office during regular business hours, in the library of the church or register online.
Starting this year our PSR program is divided in two parts. Family Faith Formation is the "academic" part with the textbook discussed at home as a family. Our Encountering Engaging Events are a chance to come together as a community to worship together, do crarfts, or engagae in traditional events like our Nativity Play and Living Way of the Cross.
These are some YouTube links of the songs we sing at our PSR assembly and Masses.

The customs of our Church includes focusing the month of May to Our Blessed Mother, Mary. There are so many things families can do to honor Mary this month.
May Altar - create an altar in your home devoted to Mary. It doesn’t have to be very large. Things you can include are a statue or picture of Mary, flowers from your garden, blue cloth, candles, etc.
May Crowning - even if we can’t have a ceremony in church, your family can do this at home. Make a crown out of paper, flowers, or any other material you have around the house. Crown a statue or picture of Mary with it.
“Sing of Mary” - find songs about Mary on Youtube and sing along.
Names of Mary - Mary has so many titles. There is a new book out by Sophia Press titled “Our Lady’s Wardrobe” by Anthony Destefano & illustrated by Juliana Kolesova. It is a beautiful book which describes several of the names Mary is known by around the world. We are familiar with her title of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. See how many other names your family can find and the story behind the name.
Virtual God Can
At PSR we have available to the children a “God Can”. This is a place that they can write a short prayer and put it into a can that is sealed. No one sees the prayers except God. At the end of the year we take the pieces of paper and burn them as a symbol that our prayers go up to God in heaven. If you feel that your child would benefit from this, they are welcomed to write out (or even draw) a prayer for the God Can and seal it in an envelope and mail it to me. Mark the envelope “God Can” and I will put it in. When summer comes, I’ll make sure the prayers are burned.
If you want to make your own family God Can you can do that instead. Any can such as a soda can or paint can will work. It should be sealed so that no one can get the prayers out once they are in. If the can gets full you can decide if you want to try to burn them or just create a new can. Remember: God can do anything.
