C.C. Merritt (given name Cecilia Bischof) is Deacon Ed’s wife. She grew up in Gentilly in St. Raphael parish (currently Transfiguration of the Lord) and graduated from Mr. Carmel Academy. She went back & forth between UNO and LSU before getting married and starting a family. Raising their 6 children was C.C.’s focus before working or church parishes. Her hobbies include sewing, cross stitching & playing the guitar. Coloring has also become one of her favorite things to pass time and relax. Her favorite song is “Send in the Clowns”. Her favorite church song is “Christmas Communion”. Her favorite book is The Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn. Her favorite movies are “The Sound of Music”, Fiddler on the Roof”, and Bruce Almighty” (see a theme here?). Her favorite color is lavender. Her favorite scripture verse is Phil 2:10. C.C. is currently taking classes at Notre Dame Seminary in the Institute for Lay Ecclesiastical Ministry (ILEM) program. When asked to write a personal Mission Statement as she started working at OLPH this is what she wrote: “My mission is to introduce people to Christ as I know Him and help them come to have a personal relationship with Him.”
