Annette Accomando's faith journey began at St. Maurice Parochial School. The teachers there planted the seeds of our faith that she enjoys sharing. For high school she attended Andrew Jackson High School in Chalmette, which was an all girl public high school. She began her college days on the LSU Baton Rouge campus, but after three years transferred to the University of New Orleans where she was conferred a bachelor's degree in secondary English Education, and later, a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She continued in school earning certifications in English as a Second Language, Curriculum Evaluation, a Reading Specialist, a UNO Writing Fellow, and an Educational Elementary and Secondary Data Certification.
Her education career began at Chalmette High School teaching English, journalism and reading at the then all boy public school. Then she taught a pull-out English as a Second Language class to any students in the parish who needed it. After that, she moved to St. Bernard Parish Community College teaching English, reading, and journalism. The college later became Nunez Community College. After Katrina, she moved to Lafayette as the Dean of Instruction and Effectiveness at South Louisiana Community College where she was a member of the team that developed the first Early College Academy in Louisiana. Later, she moved back to Chalmette as the Vice Chancellor of Student Services and Academic Affairs. Then she was called by God to become the principal of Our Lady of Prompt Succor School in Chalmette. Now, she feels very blessed to be a Hornet at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
