The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA, is the process through which individuals, adults and children, journey to learn more about the Catholic Faith. This journey is traveled with the anticipation of being initiated into the Roman Catholic faith or completing the sacraments. We offer a year-round process at OLPH, so interested persons may start their journey at any time. The process begins with an initial conversation with the RCIA coordinator. This conversation is essential in developing the course of the process for each individual.
Classes

Children/Youth: Special arrangements are made for children and youth. We ask that they be enrolled in our Parish School of Religion or High School of Religion. Homrschooling or Family Faith Formation is also an option. The time commitment depends on individual needs.
Sponsors
Because no journey should be traveled alone, this ministry is always in search of people willing to share their faith life with those preparing to become Catholic Christians. To be admitted to the role of sponsor, a person must meet the following criteria:
The Sponsor must be a Confirmed Catholic in good standing with the Church, and regularly practice his/her Catholic faith.
The Sponsor must be at least sixteen years of age.
If married, the Sponsor must be in a marriage recognized as valid by the Catholic Church. Person may not be cohabiting, or living together without marriage.
We welcome everyone, even those life-long Catholics who might feel the desire to brush up on their faith. Please know that you are welcome to share and learn with us. Sessions are informal and we become like family. It is very important to have others share their faith with those in the RCIA process.
